The initiative came from Milovan Drecun, an MP from the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the chairman of the Committee on Kosovo, and received the support of 171 MPs. Eight voted against and ten abstained.

The committee will be tasked with determining whether the funds from the state budget were used for their intended purposes and whether they were available to everyone under equal terms.

The committee will need to analyze subordinate legislation and criteria for the distribution of funds in the areas of health care, education, social policy, culture, infrastructure, local self-government and telecommunications.

Additionally, it will determine whether the funds earmarked for the construction of transport, communal, business and housing infrastructure were used according to plan, how goods coming into Kosoovo were controlled, and whether public procurements and works were conducted in line with the law.

The committee will also investigate whether state property used by companies in the province was illegally appropriated, the amount of money set aside from the state budget between 2000 and 2012, who it went to, and whether audits were carried out.

According to the parliament's decision, the committee will be composed of one member from each parliamentary group and will have 120 days to complete its report and recommend appropriate measures.
