The consultations also brought together Serbian Parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Suzana Grubjesic, Director of the Government Office for Kosovo Aleksandar Vulin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kosovo Milovan Drecun.
The meeting was also attended by Vice President of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Zarko Obradovic, leader of the United Regions of Serbia (URS) Mladjan Dinkic and leader of New Serbia (NS) Velimir Ilic, leader of the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) Jovan Krkobabic, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) Rasim Ljajic and leader of the Party of Democratic Action Sulejman Ugljanin. Dacic also talked with leader of the United Serbia (JS) Dragan Markovic, heads of the SPS and NS parliamentary groups, Branko Ruzic and Miroslav Markicevic respectively.
Representatives of the opposition parties voiced differing views following the consultations.
Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Serbia (LDP) Cedomir Jovanovic said that Serbia's top officials "should either cut the Gordian knot or withdraw."
Jovanovic expects the SNS Presidency to think about the future and take on the burden of responsibility as the strongest party in power, and underlined the stand of his party that an agreement with Kosovo Albanians is needed not only because of a starting date for EU entry talks, but because in that way, we will left our children with a region in which time would not be measured from one war to the next.
Leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians Istvan Pastor voiced a similar opinion that if Serbia has to choose, then his party will opt for further EU integration.
Leader of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) Vuk Draskovic said that Serbia should accept and sign the agreement with Kosovo, with a request to the EU that it should confirm guarantees for all rights of the Serb people, municipalities and religious heritage in Kosovo that were stipulated in the Ahtisaari Plan.
The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) still deems that the agreement is unacceptable and must be rejected, leader of that party Vojislav Kostunica said after the meeting, adding that it is necessary to insist on the new format of the talks, i.e. get the dialogue back under the auspices of the UN.
Representatives of the Democratic Party (DS), its leader Dragan Djilas, head of the parliamentary group Borislav Stefanovic and Vice President Bojan Pajtic did not give statements after the meeting. Dusan Petrovic ('Together for Serbia'), Nenad Canak and Bojan Kostres (the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina) also declined to comment for the media.
