Stefanovic expects better offer in Brussels

Nebojsa Stefanovic, deputy president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), said on Monday ahead of the eight round of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels that he expects that the Serbian delegation will be presented with a much better offer.

Stefanovic said for Radio and Television of Serbia that it would be senseless if in spite of so much effort the Serbian delegation were presented with the same offer on Tuesday.
"I sincerely hope that the offer will be incomparably better than the previous one, which was really nothing. There are things that Serbia does not want to and cannot give up on," Stefanovic underlined.

He said that Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has never conditioned his departure for Brussels by participation of representatives of the Great Britain and Germany in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
"He has never set such conditions. I do not have the information whether they will participate in the dialogue, but that is of less importance. What is important is the result," Stefanovic said.

In the Brussels dialogue, Vucic and the Serbian delegation will try to fight for what is best at the moment for our people and country, he said.
"I am certain that he will do all in his might to make sure that Tuesday's decisions are in the greatest interest of our country and all citizens," said Stefanovic, who is also the speaker of the Serbian parliament.

He said that a session of the parliament, at which the Serbian delegation will inform the MPs about the dialogue with Pristina, will be scheduled as soon as there is something concrete. The eighth round of the Belgrade-Pristina talks with the EU as the mediator will be staged in Brussels on Tuesday and the meeting should focus on the autonomy for Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

Kirby: I hope for agreement in Brussels

U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby voiced hope on Tuesday that Belgrade and Pristina will reach an agreement in Brussels, because this would be good for peace and stability in the region and for Serbia's progress towards the European Union.

Asked whether he has some information about the outcome of Tuesday's, eighth round of Belgrade-Pristina talks, Kirby said he has no inside information, because the outcome is very uncertain.

Bildt: Agreement would be important EU step forward

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt estimated on Tuesday that an agreement in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina would be an important step toward the EU for both sides.

"Further talks today between Belgrade and Pristina. Agreement would be an important EU step forward for both of them," Bildt posted on his Twitter account.
