In her note, Ashton said that she saw the commitment and determination of both sides to reach an agreement at the very first meeting between Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and his Kosovo counterpart Hasim Taci in her cabinet.
When the process began, everyone knew it would be difficult and that it would call for strong political leadership, she noted.
The EU representative commended both the ruling and opposition parties in Belgrade and Pristina which so far backed prime ministers and expressed the belief that the support will be offered on Tuesday as well.
Ashton expressed the belief that the delegations attending the Brussels talks on Tuesday are doing this in the best interest of the people they are representing and for a better future for all of them. We must not let this chance slip, she noted.
Serbia's top officials conferred on Monday ahead of the new round of talks on the minimum Serbian requests and the members of the delegation, and they decided that First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will be a part of the delegation.
