Nikolic: No difference in messages by president, PM

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic stated on Monday that there is no difference in the messages that he and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic are sending regarding the dialogue with Pristina, adding that once the dialogue comes to a dead end, the two of them will tell that to the citizens.

“There are no differences in the statements by the prime minister and the president of the state, except for the fact that I expressed optimism that the parliament's Resolution will have a positive response, while the prime minister, given that he has more contacts with Pristina, said that this will not be easy,” Nikolic said after a meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele. Nikolic explained that in the dialogue Serbia can do neither less nor more than what has been included in the parliament's Resolution, and that the other side should make concessions so that the agreement could be reached. “In case of a negative response (to the Resolution), you can be certain that the prime minister and I will announce that the talks have come to a dead end but this will not happen because Serbia did not made any concessions, since it did,” Nikolic explained. He underlined that unlike his predecessors, who hid behind the Constitution and lower state officials, he put his entire political career into the resolution of the Kosovo issue by making the Platform. “There will be no surprises at the top state level, and there are no weak links in this team,” Nikolic said.
