Pantic: We will not accept polls under Kosovo laws

Deputy Head of the Office for Kosovo Krstimir Pantic said on Thursday that Serbs from the four municipalities in northern Kosovo would not accept that elections for an association of Serb municipalities be held under Kosovo laws.

“I can say with certainty that the municipal assemblies in the northern part of the province would not accept that elections for this association of Serb municipalities be carried out in line with the Kosovo laws and Constitution of the so-called Republic of Kosovo, and that we would not agree to some stronger ties with Pristina,” Pantic told Tanjug. He notes that 99.75 percent of citizens in these four municipalities in northern KiM said that they were against the Albanian institutions in the northern part of the province in the last year's referendum. Pantic says that local Serb officials will insist on ties with the Republic of Serbia, adding that otherwise, he does not see a possibility for implementation of the Belgrade-Pristina agreement. Pantic underlines that the agreements that have been reached so far in Brussels met the Albanian demands to a great extent and complicated the life of Serbs in KiM. The question arises whether Serbs would stay here, if the agreement on an association of Serb municipalities proved unfavorable for them, or they would opt for some other options like moving to central Serbia, Pantic said.
