Ashton invited Serbia's top officials to consultations ahead of the 7th round of the political talks between Belgrade and Pristina, which will be held in Brussels on March 20. The meeting is expected to start in the afternoon, since Ashton will be chairing a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the EU earlier in the day, which will focus on the Middle East and Africa. Ashton will visit Pristina on March 14 and meet Kosovo's Prime Minister Hasim Taci and political party leaders. The consultations occur after a Kosovo delegation led by Taci refused to accept that any kind of ex ecutive authority be granted to the association of Serb municipalities in Kosovo, which is something Serbia insists on. Dacic said on Sunday he did not expect pressure on anyone in Brussels, but a clarification on whether a solution for northern Kosovo was possible. He said he refused to sign an agreement on general principles at the most recent round of the talks because it did not include executive power for the Serbs in northern Kosovo, adding that the Serbian side could not accept anything less than that.
