The Office for Kosovo condemned on Friday the decision of the Pristina District Court to release Kosovo MP Fatmir Ljimaj from prison, adding that this is just another proof that Serbs need to have control over the justice system in Kosovo.

Such decisions clearly show what kind of justice system the so-called Kosovo institutions are setting up and sends a message that crimes against Serbs are exempt from punishments, the Office for Kosovo-Metohija said in the release. Ljimaj, who was remanded in detention on November 24, was released from prison on Friday and placed in house arrest, and the decision on his release was adopted by the Trial Chamber of the Kosovo Supreme Council after revising the appeal filed by Ljimaj's defence team. The other three former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Nedzmi Krasnici, Naser Krasnici and Naser Salja who are also charged with murdering several civilians and war prisoners in the village of Klecka, remained in detention.
