Acting on a proposal by opposition MPs, the Kosovo Committee decided that Prime Minister Dacic should appear before the parliament's body within 14 days from today, submit a written report on the developments in the dialogue with Pristina and the results thereof and give an oral explanation of it. Milovan Drecun, the Committee's chairman, told a news conference in the parliament that the 14-day deadline does not have to be followed strictly without exception, but members of the body do expect the prime minister to submit the report. The Kosovo Committee also adopted the Report on the work of the government's Office for Kosovo in 2012, which was submitted to the Committee by Kosovo Office Deputy Director Krstimir Pantic. Pantic said that the Kosovo Office was not just a passive observer, but rather an active participant in projects to provide assistance to the Serb and other non-Albanian population in KiM to make their lives easier. Borislav Stefanovic, member of the Kosovo Committee from the ranks of the Democratic Party (DS), said that he expected to find certain issues more directly addressed in the report, such as those concerning electrical energy supply, the security situation in the northern Kosovo city of Kosovska Mitrovica, which he said is alarming as hand grenades and other explosive devices are reported being thrown and going off in the city every day. The Kosovo Committee also adopted a proposal, which it will send to the government for consideration, which stipulates that the budget funds intended for KiM should be centralized and directed so as to pass before the eyes of the Kosovo Committee in the future so that it could be clearly seen where the money is going to and for what purposes.
