Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic stated on Tuesday that a non-standard solution needs to be found for Serb municipalities in Kosovo, but there are certain limits Serbia will not overstep.

“If we want to reach an agreement, we will have to seek a non-standard solution because the situation concerning Kosovo is non-standard,” Dacic told reporters a day after the sixth round of the dialogue with Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci in the cabinet of the High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.
The prime minister specified that certain progress was made during the talks on Monday because officials agreed that the association consisting of nine Serb municipalities should have its own assembly, president and vice president and that there is a certain conflict concerning legislative and executive authorities.
“There are certain limits which Serbia will not cross,” Dacic said and pointed out that Serbia will continue insisting on the community getting the authorities which Pristina is fiercely opposing.
“Everyone has to understand that Serbia is not playing a game or trying to win some time because there is none,” Dacic noted and added that the authorities are looking for a solution which could be implemented in the field and the participation of Kosovo Serbs is of crucial importance in this matter.
“If we reach a solution which will not be translatable into reality, then we completely missed the target,” the prime minister noted and repeated that the fact that Serbia expects the date of EU accession talks would not be the reason to accept something at any cost and that it is in the interest of everyone for the normalization process to be unblocked.
“We are constructive but an agreement calls for two or three sides, and in this case maybe even more,” Dacic said referring to the important role of the U.S. and Germany in the search for a solution to the Kosovo issue.
