The incident took place around 23:10 CET when the device was tossed to the balcony of a first floor apartment owned by a Serb, Tanjug's correspondent reported.
The residential building is located only dozens of meters from a kindergarten and a primary school.
Hodzic: Intention of attackers was to kill
Andrijana Hodzic, head of the Administrative Office of the Kosovo government in Kosovska Mitrovica, stated on Tuesday that the bomb attack that took place in northern Kosovska Mitrovica on Monday evening is an inhumane act, adding that the attackers had an intention to kill.
Hodzic's statement reads that Monday's attack seriously endangered the life of one, as she said, respectable citizen, and that considering the damage it is clear that the intention of the attacker was to kill. She posed a question who ordered the attack and who has the right to treat the citizens of northern Kosovska Mitrovica in such a way, stressing that the incident has disturbed the citizens.
“I hope that all security institutions will understand the gravity of the situation and take concrete steps in terms of safety and towards the establishment of the rule of law before someone dies,” Hodzic underlined.
As Tanjug learned, the target of the attack was an employee of the Administrative Office in Kosovska Mitrovica, who was in the apartment at the time of the explosion.
This is not the first attack on the staff of the Administrative Office as unidentified perpetrators recently tried to kill Dusan Milisavljevic, who was wounded when a masked attacker shot at him in front of a pub in Kosovska Mitrovica.
Over 20 incidents took place in Kosovska Mitrovica in the last two months, and the perpetrators have not been arrested to date.
Office for Kosovo condemns attack on building
The Serbian government Office for Kosovo has condemned Monday night's bomb attack on an apartment building in Kosovska Mitrovica, calling on the international community to find and punish the perpetrators as soon as possible.

Luckily no one was injured, but the damage to property is major," the Office said in a release.
The Office urged the international community to urgently uncover and punish the perpetrators of this and similar crimes which occur in northern Kosovo daily.
"Also, we ask KFOR to guarantee the safety of everyone in Kosovo, especially the Serbs living north of the Ibar river, who have recently been exposed to daily attacks," reads the release.
