Vincent Degert spoke during a break in an EU-financed conference on cross-border cooperation to explain that the EU was insisting on "normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina", while leaving it to the two sides "to define the framework of their cooperation".

According to him, Serbia also needs to fulfill several other conditions - "but they are all well-known considering that they were defined in December by the European Council".

Degert also stated that he was pleased with the readiness expressed by the authorities in Belgrade, including President Tomislav Nikolic, to launch the political dialogue with Priština, noting at the same time that the technical dialogue had been stalled since February.
