Vukcevic expects reaction from Williamson's team

Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic said Thursday he was expecting a reaction from the international team in charge of investigating human organ trafficking in Kosovo and Albania, headed by Clint Williamson, adding there was always a chance another witness would contact the Prosecutor's Office.

"No one from the EULEX team has contacted me yet, but not a lot of time has passed since we revealed the information that we have come in contact with a person who was directly involved in the organ trafficking, so I expect Williamson to contact us," Vukcevic told reporters.

Vukcevic said on Sunday that the prosecution has a witness who took part in organ harvesting from Serb prisoners in Kosovo in late 1990s. On Monday, local Television broadcast video footage of a statement by a protected witness who explains the entire process in detail - from the training, operations in makeshift hospitals, to transport to the airport in Tirana, from where organs were distributed to the black market.

Asked whether another witness had contacted the Prosecutor's Office, Vukcevic did not want to respond precisely, noting "there was always a chance somebody else would come forward."

Talking about the witness, Vukcevic said the international team and all other prosecutor's offices which are investigating the organ trafficking would be able to interrogate him and make sure he is credible. Vukcevic reiterated the witness's credibility and his testimony had also been confirmed by other evidence the Serbian Prosecutor's Office had uncovered in the course of its several years long investigation.
