After a meeting with Kosovo's President Atifete Jahjaga, Petrovic told the press that it is important that the Assembly of Kosovo approves the establishment of a court that he said would serve the purpose of prosecuting individuals without creating collective guilt or trying history. The European Union and the United States are clear in their position that setting up the court is a necessary move, and expect this to be approved by Kosovo's institutions and assembly, he said.Jahjaga on Friday held discussions with leaders of ethnic Albanian political parties and representatives of the Serb and other non-Albanian communities represented in the assembly on continuing Eulex's mandate and setting up a special war crimes court.
